Making Memories of Us

One of the most important things that money can buy for the wedding is the photographer.  This was one area that I always said that I wanted to put a little more rather than a little less.  50+ years from now, the dress won't fit, the tux will probably be long retired from the rental store, shoes are unbearable to wear, and the flowers have long been dead.  However, other than a life long love, and rings... The photos that capture moments and memories of that very special day are all that is left.  I wanted to make sure that we would have photos that were special, ones that were not just another snap shot of our day, but photos that the moment you look at them you are filled with all the same emotions that you had at the moment that picture was taken.  I want to create memories.

At a bridal expo in Monterey I stumbled across just what I was looking for.  I met Mike Steelman who has been creating what he calls "life art" in his photography.  He is a talker but has a lot of energy, and he puts that into his work.  I really, REALLY, liked what he had to show me.  Paul and I met with him about a month ago, and tomorrow it will be official, he will be the one to capture all of the moments at our wedding.  I think his work is timeless, and has SO much life to it.  I am very excited to work with him, and I know Paul is happy with our choice (although we all know that he is not so fond of having pictures taken of him...).

break the ice

With everything in life, there is always something that breaks the ice.  For wedding planning and shopping, for me, it was the shoes.  (For those who know me, this should be no surprise.)  I knew I wanted blue shoes, for "something blue".

They came a couple weeks ago and were the perfect fit!  EXCITING!

Update!

So, it has been a while since there has been an update... There has been A LOT going on on the home front, none of it wedding related.  HOWEVER, this week we finally heard back from the venue.  We will be getting our venue and our date, for sure!

We will be getting married Sunday, May 8th 2011 at Chateau Julien Wine Estate in Carmel Valley!

We are so excited and happy that things are finally starting to fall in place.  Now we just have to deal with the "little things".
